Public Outcry Saves Nurse Osato as Delta State Drops Disciplinary Action: | Factsheet

Today, the repression of Nurse Osato Edobor, a Nursing School Student, was curtailed because Nigerians spoke out and rejected an attempt by the college authorities to penalize her for participating in a song titled “Na Your Mama Be Dis.” The Delta State Government and the authorities at Delta State College of Nursing Sciences found the song offensive to their guest, Senator Remi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, during her visit to the institution yesterday.
After a team led by Chioma Ifemeludike, a Nollywood actor affiliated with the Take It Back Movement, met with Nurse Osato to accompany her in facing the school authorities, I spoke with the Delta State Commissioner of Health. The commissioner confirmed that the state has reversed the initial letter’s recommendation to penalize her for sharing content related to the “Na Your Mama Be Dis” song, which was allegedly aimed at Senator Remi Tinubu, at their school. Nurse Osato no longer needs to attend any disciplinary panel.
